US Lighthouse Establishment Chelsea Wall Clock

Description

U. S. Light House Establishment Brass Chelsea Clock c.1908. Clocks from the U. S. Light House Establishment are rare and always in demand. This one is exceptional because it is in original and working condition and dates from 1900, and also due to its unusual marking. 4 ½” marine movement is in original red brass case with screw bezel. Case may have been originally nickel plated, which has worn off from constant polishing over the years. Case measures about 5 ½” across the bezel and 2 ½” deep. Case has no dents or gouges and shows only light wear from years of use. Original 4 ½” stamped copper dial has been professionally re-silvered and restored to new condition. The face is lettered “U.S.L.H. E.”, Chelsea Clock Company, Boston . U.S.A. ” The “U.S.L.H.E.” marking (without the accompanying “Estab.” or “Service”) is extremely rare. Eight day 7-jewel movement has been professionally cleaned and adjusted and is in fine running condition and keeps excellent time. This is an exceptional find for collectors of early Chelsea clocks or Light House memorabilia.
